i have been lurking for some time and finally decided to register and hopefully contribute to this great forum.. i am in my mid 30s and have never been in the truth.

This may be a crazy question, but it popped in my head and won't leave. . So I gotta ask. . .
by Miss Worldly inok, this probably applies to most faith systems that believe in any sort of afterlife, but i would like to know what sort of explanation the jw's would come up with for this little problem, you know, after armageddon on earthly paradise.
sorry if i sound dumb, but it's been nagging at me for a few weeks and have to ask.. so, what if a young married jw couple are living their life, waiting for the big a, knowing they will be together in the earthly paradise, then very sadly one of them dies.
from what i know, if a jw dies, that's it.

Thank you for all the replies.
Prologos- Thank you, but I have absolutely no interest in becoming a JW. That will never, come hell, high water, pestilence or fire balls happen. I have seen the devastation it causes, both to physical health and mental health.
I love your analogy of the male breast "structure without function" that does eloquently describe a lot of things I have witnessed (pardon the pun). I may well use that, if I may?
I, sometimes unfortunately, have a thirst for knowledge. About things I find difficult to understand. This was one of those things that I could not get a clear answer on. And honestly? I'm still not sure! There seems to be a lot of difference in teachings, depending on how the question is asked. All designed, I suppose, to keep the 'ask-er' in line.
Thank you again.

Thanks freegirl2006 and blonde.
That makes me feel very sad that people are taught these things.
Freegirl, I'm sorry about your Dad. I guess that teaching makes a lot of people feel like your Mom. It must have been a comfort to your Mom. x

Ok, this probably applies to most faith systems that believe in any sort of afterlife, but I would like to know what sort of explanation the JW's would come up with for this little problem, you know, after Armageddon on earthly paradise.

So, what if a young married JW couple are living their life, waiting for the Big A, knowing they will be together in the earthly paradise, then very sadly one of them dies. From what I know, if a JW dies, that's it. They are dead, nothing. But come the great tribulation, they will be reserected.
What if a few years down the line the surviving spouse (I can't bring myself to say 'mate') finds love again and remarries? As they would be allowed to do as they are scripturally free to marry.
Now come the time of the Big A. Earthly paradise is restored. And so is the first spouse. A spouse that died believing that they and their marriage partner would be in paradise together, but now finds that their partner has remarried and loves the new person they married *awkward*.
What would happen? Because they died do they have to forfeit the happiness they thought they were getting? Does the surviving spouse have to leave the second spouse? How would the second spouse feel about it? . . . I don't know, but it doesn't sound much like paradise for any of them.
I would just like to hear a rational explanation for this dilemma. I can't seem to come up with any solution in my head. Apart from ones that wouldn't please Jehovah!
Thanks in advance

Seriously though, I have no words of advice. I just know that you have a hell of a lot of support from the guys on here. Take it, revel in it and stick two fingers up.
Sending best wishes.

Jehovah's Witness Church Release Statement
by truthseekeriam in"we are saddened to hear about the death of prince rogers nelson, who was baptized as one of jehovah’s witnesses in 2003," the church said in a statement obtained by people.
the church said that prince "found fulfillment as a witness and in sharing his faith with others.

Do they know something we mere mortals don't? . . What happens if the results of Prince's death is from Drug abuse, as some of the speculation says (don't get me wrong, I hope not!!! I liked Prince.) . . . But will they retract the statement? Make excuses for him or themselves?
. . I think they may have been a little previous in releasing a statement, it may come back to bite them on the bum!

A Chance To Plant A Seed That We All Have
by dubstepped ini'd like to brainstorm something with the rest of you.
this summer at the regional conventions we all know by now that a talk on shunning is going to be given.
we all know what that talk will likely point to.

Ooooh, it came out a bit big, sorry!
I just thought this could sum up the sentiment???

If all the world were JWs....
by Tornintwo inin my former indoctrinated state, i used to yearn for a time when all the world would be jws.
but hang on minute, let's just think about what the world would be like if everyone was a jw,.
first of all, no higher education, so no medical advances, no scientific research, no modern day medicine, infectious disease rife, no doctors, no engineers, so no modern day comforts.

Miss Worldly
Ok, so my take. Sorry if I'm being dumb (it's because I'm worldly!) but, if all the world were JW's. . . There would be no need for JWs as there would be no 'badness' left in the world........
...... Either that or Armageddon really happened.........

If you went back in time, would you be a god?
by Simon inwe just finished watching outlander which is about a woman who goes back in time ~200 years from the end of wwii.
she ends up in the scottish highlands in the middle of the jacobite uprising.
it's a great show although the last episodes were a little graphic (they make game of thrones seem like sesame street).. but it got me thinking ... if you went back in time would you in fact be the 'god' you may imagine because of your knowledge of modern technology and the future?.

Ooh,ooh, not seen the movie, I don't want to spoil the books, I've read all 8 of them, now waiting for the ninth one! Brilliant. Very sadly ( for most other people) I've read the first one probably, about. . . .erm. . 10 times. . . (Shhhh!)
i think, much like Clare, we would be seen as someone to be wary of, a witch, a healer. But as she came from the 1940's today's technology would be a damn sight more frightening to 18c highlanders!!
As for our knowledge, I don't think we particularly have much more knowledge than we did then. Our basic knowledge comes from past generations, the vast majority of other things we know, come from our technology.
Ha! Just read this back, it makes no sense whatsoever! Sorry! I know what I mean.
it was the Jamie & Clare that did it!
